Consultant Ophthalmologist with subspecialty interest in vitreoretinal surgery.
The Institute of Eye Surgery (IOES) invites applications for the position of Consultant Ophthalmologist with a Subspecialty Interest in Vitreoretinal Surgery. This full time, permanent role is designed to complement our team of 10 experienced consultants. It offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of vitreoretinal surgery in Ireland’s leading private ophthalmic institution.

Minimum Commitment: 4 Days per week

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive vitreoretinal and general ophthalmology services across IOES locations
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of vitreoretinal care pathways
- Participate in clinical research and support active trials
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary consultant team
- Engage in clinical governance, audit, and continuous professional development
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Ophthalmic Surgery division of the Irish Medical Council (IMC)
- FRCOphth or an internationally recognised equivalent specialist qualification
- Demonstrated experience in general ophthalmology
- Recognised vitreoretinal subspecialty fellowship or clear evidence of subspecialty clinical practice
- Eligible to work in Ireland or willing for IOES to apply for the relevant employment permit
Desirable Criteria:
- Extensive clinical experience in vitreoretinal surgery
- Active involvement in clinical research with a record of peer reviewed publication
- Proficiency in cataract surgery
